Here at Bethel City Church we are passionate about people. We believe that people are so important to God and should therefore be the focus of His Church.

In the Bible, there is a passage of scripture that we like to call the Matt 25 Challenge. In Matthew 25:31-46, Jesus distinguishes between those who gave Him something to eat, invited Him in, clothed Him, looked after Him and visited Him in prison and those who didn't. He separates them to the right and to the left.

The question that they all ask is, "when…?"

"When did we give you something to eat?"

"When did we see you a stranger and invite you in?"

Jesus replied, “…whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”

Jesus loved people. He wants His Church to reach out and serve people across this city and to the far corners of this globe! As a church we are committed to ensuring that we answer the challenge of 'When...?'

The When… Distribution Centre provides brand new clothing and household equipment to those in most need across the city of Stoke on Trent, nationally and internationally. Goods are received through donation from companies such as Ethel Austin and are then redistributed to those in need. Ethel Austin have donated a significantly large amount of stock for which we are incredibly grateful for.

Upon arrival at the When... Distribution Centre, all goods are processed and stored. Needs are identified through referrals, which are received from both individuals and organisations such as, schools, churches, children’s centres, NHS, adult services, children’s services, teenage mother and baby units, women’s safe houses etc. The appropriate goods for each referral are then collected and distributed to the individuals and organisations free of charge.

Since opening in October 2008, When... has received and met the needs of over 1,000 referrals. Originally located in Joiners Square, Hanley, When... recently relocated to a modern industrial unit on Fenton Industrial Estate, Stoke on Trent. Moving locations has enabled When... to increase in efficiency of operation. In conjunction with the move we have also received a racking system free of charge from Kee Safety Ltd. This generous donation has significantly helped us meet the increasing number of referrals that we are receiving each week.

Hundreds and even thousands of people have already benefited from the phenomenal When... Distribution Centre, including those who are homeless, living in temporary accommodation or street dwellers, those who are living in the areas of deprivation within the city and those who are escaping domestic violence.

Not only is When... recognised within the city the city of Stoke on Trent, it is also fast becoming an organisation of both national and international significance. Recently When... redistributed large amount of goods to Mustardtree, based in Manchester and two huge truck loads of goods to Romania.

Volunteering

We need volunteers to help us sort through incoming goods, and to pick and pack goods ready to be delivered directly to people in need across the city.  When... work parties take place at various times throughout the week, daytime and evening, as well as at weekends. Donate a product - Your company can make a difference

Our help includes goods from corporate donors' inventories that result in a constant flow of clothing and household equipment directly to those who need them.

Advantages of donating your excess inventory:

When... is able to receive product that is not suitable for your customers for reasons such as wrong colour, misprints, damaged pallets, etc., provided the product is still usable and, where applicable, has a shelf life of at least one year.  This saves your company disposal costs, is effective recycling, and environmentally friendly.

Donating slow moving inventory - thus freeing valuable warehouse space - reduces your warehousing costs.

When... is aware of donor company concerns regarding brand security and market share and guarantees safe delivery from the point of receipt to the final beneficiaries.

How your donation gets to the needy

Goods are brought to the When... Distribution Centre in Fenton.

Inside our secure distribution centre, our tried and tested volunteers sort and combine your donation with other goods, and then personally distribute goods into the hands of needy recipients.
